Gregori's Altai

This is a very nice early tomato from Siberia. Very good production of 3-4” and 8-12 oz, reddish pink beefsteak fruit. They have a nice full flavor and are rather sweet. Both size and this good of a flavor are rare in the early tomatoes. It has won awards from Organic Gardening Magazine.

Story:

Back in 1989, Bill McDorman of Seeds Trust took part in a garden tour of Siberia with the Earth Stewards of Eugene, Or and brought back all kinds of interesting seeds unheard of here in the States. This was one of them and helped to feed the U.S. desire to try more heirlooms. Gregori’s Altai originated in Novosibirsk, Siberia – in the Altai Mountains on the Chinese border.
